The aim of the Mission Commission is to carry the ministry of Jesus into the world through proclamation and compassionate service.
Our areas of involvement include:
Klipheuwel

A number of individuals sponsor the fees for children to attend créche

Sewing classes are run every Wednesday

Groceries to the value of R1350 a month are provided for the créche

Ingredients are supplied weekly for the soup kitchen

Clothes are donated towards the 2nd hand clothes shop
Job Creation

We are in partnership with several other churches in running a training facility for unemployed people from the Durbanville taxi rank. This involves capital input and volunteers to present the training modules

The DMC yellow pages, an initiative to encourage small to medium businesses within the congregation, is distributed to approximately 1000 members
Namaqualand
We have identified 6 Methodist Créches in Namaqualand which we have built relationships with over the past 2 years. Our involvement has included:

A number of relationship building trips

Building a kitchen at the Rooifontein créche and restoring the Leliefontein créche.

Providing stationery packs to each school each year

Subsidising three teachers salaries

Donating several items, including a Photostat machine, several hundred litres of paint and clothes

Malawi
-
Maralise is a long term missionary sent out from this community to Malawi. She is a qualified nurse working in the Hospital at Nkhoma. Small teams or individuals visited her during the course of each year, to encourage and support Maralise in her various projects. This year we have helped fund a water well and a roof for a local school.

Pierre Storey is involved in offering engineering advice to the Hospital, as well as running an NGO called "Schools Africa" that has as its vision to build pre-schools throughout Africa

This couple, as sent members of this congregation, have recently completed their 6 months of orientation training at Operation Mobilisation (OM). They have sensed a call to Germany and are in the process of finding a way to take up ministry.
